The UNESCO Chair in Higher Education Management finishes the ISMU TEMPUS project with a final conference

The UNESCO Chair in Higher Education Management has been leading for four years the ISMU TEMPUS project in partnership with European and Asian partners.

The final conference of the Tempus project “Institute of Strategic Management of Universities – ISMU” will take place in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) on the 9th April 2015 and will be hosted by the Kyrgyz National University.

ISMU project, lead by the UNESCO Chair in Higher Education Management at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC-BarcelonaTech) started in November 2011 aiming at improving the management and governance of higher education institutions by ensuring a high level of qualified middle and top managers through the creation of an international institute for strategic management of universities. Several outcomes have been achieved throughout the implementation of this project in the four Central Asian countries involved (Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan): The creation of eight Institutes of Strategic Management of Universities with a continuous training offer on Strategic Management for top and middle managers; an online  training offer with resources and materials in several languages; an Observatory of practices in university management to foster benchmark and exchange; and, finally, publications related to strategic management topics in central Asian higher education institutions.

This final event will count on the participation of all the project partners both from Europe and Central Asia and will capitalise project results and exchange experiences on further sustainability and trends in university strategies.
