Published the winners of the 2015 MacJannet Prize for Global Citizenship

This award, organized by the MacJannet Foundation and the Talloires Network Secretariat, aims to recognize projects which are involved on community engagement in higher education and promote initiatives that contribute to the development of excellent global citizenship and civic engagement of universities. 

The winner of this edition was the program NCSN Education for Empowerment from the National University of Science and Technology (Pakistan) which aims to fill educational gaps in the community through various activities such as promoting basic education or imparting skills for employment and poverty reduction. The prize was $ 7,500.

The second place winner was the Australian project UTS Shopfront Community Program from the University of Technology Sydney which received $5,000. This program focused on curricular and extracurricular programs, creating partnership with communities and different organizations.

The project I DEAL Sudan, from Ahfad University for Women received the third price of $2,500. This initiative focused specially in supporting vulnerable children through a psycho-social assistance in primary schools.

The 2015 MacJannet Prize also awarded three programs with the Honorable Mentions which were: CLiCNews from the Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland); Diplomado en Educacion para el Desarrollo Sustentable from University of Santiago de Chile and the Voluntary Tuition Program (VTP) from the Trinity College Dublin (Ireland).

At this edition of the 2015 MacJannet Prize, 61 projects were nominated by 48 universities in 17 countries around the world where quality and diversity are key factors to demonstrate the community engagement in higher education.
