Kickoff meeting of the 3rd UNESCO World Higher Education Conference in Barcelona (WHEC2022)
On the occasion of the visit of the team of the Higher Education section of UNESCO in Barcelona, a preparatory meeting was held last week at the headquarters of the Department of Research and Universities (Government of Catalonia) with the members of the Local Coordination Desk (LCD) to monitor and work on various aspects related to the 3rd UNESCO World Higher Education Conference (WHEC2022), which will take place in Barcelona in 2022.
This 3rd Word Conference has as its main objective to rethink higher education systems and policies for the next decade and will offer new knowledge, innovative ideas creative alliances, and produce an enlarged and reinvigorated coalition of the global higher education community in favour of the 2030 Agenda for Development and beyond.
The Minister for Research and Universities of the Government of Catalonia, Gemma Geis, received the delegation from UNESCO and the members of the LCD. This meeting was attended by representatives of the administrations that are the local partners of the Conference: Ministry of Universities of the Government of Spain, Government of Catalonia represented by the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia (CIC), Barcelona City Council and the Diputació de Barcelona, together with the local organizing partner, the Catalan Association of Public Universities, ACUP / Global University Network for innovation, GUNi.
