Mission / Vision
The University of Macerata is a public institution that has identified education and research as its key assets for the development of a knowledgebased society with the aim of benefiting the whole community. The University primary objectives are the promotion and organization of research, the development and diffusion of a high level of humanistic, scientific and technological knowledge, the expansion of the higher academic education and professional training.
Goals
The University of Macerata is the only university in Italy to be highly specialized in humanistic knowledge and to provide top level education in humanities and social sciences. This is the emblem of that innovative humanism which is the summary of its history, its present and its future. Human capital here is seen as a real resource that deserves to be enhanced through a tight connection to the labor market and a growing push toward internationalization. The University of Macerata intends to overcome the belief that technological research and development, even if certainly important, are not the sole productive resources to empower in todays complex world. Its education policy aims at exploring a new humanism, exactly as it was a new and innovative technology: in a nutshell, its technology is human capital. The University promotes studying, teaching and research collaborations with other universities and with Italian and foreign higher education institutions within the national and international scientific community. Besides, the University cooperates with the national government and with the local authorities, with the local enterprises and with non-profit organizations.
