The University of Mato Grosso State's mission is to "offer public higher education of excellence, promoting the production of knowledge through teaching, research and extension in a democratic and plural way, contributing to the formation of competent, ethical and committed professionals with the sustainability and the consolidation of a more humane and democratic society. " (PEP-UNEMAT, 2015-2025)

I. Ensure the environment for the production and diffusion of knowledge through teaching, research and extension in its different modalities and forms of promotion;

II. Promote social equality and solidarity through its activities;

III. Promote the study of sustainability, guaranteeing wide application of the knowledge acquired;

IV. Promote actions that combine equality and equity of gender, ethnicity and creed, as assumptions of human emancipation;

V. Strengthen democracy at all levels, especially with regard to the participation of the academic community in decision-making and results achieved;

VI. Ensure articulation with other levels and modalities of teaching;

VII. To promote the debate concerning public policies developed in society;

VIII. Work in cooperation with organizations and institutions that promote social equity and quality of life;

IX. To value through teaching, research and extension the integration between knowledge and the world of work;

X. Promote personnel development policies;

XI. To offer higher education aiming at the qualification and qualification of professionals for the exercise of teaching, research and extension in all areas of knowledge;

XII. Promote and strengthen science, technology, culture, art, manifestations of body culture and leisure;

XIII. Contribute to the process of regional and national development, conducting systemic studies of their problems and their;

XIV. Promote, according to the law, public higher education in all its precepts and prerogatives;

XV. Promote extension in a dialogical relationship, in an inseparable way with teaching and research, enabling the transformative relationship of the university and society;

XVI. Promote the process, permanent and systemic evaluation of its activities, considering the participation of society and the internal community, aiming at quality and social, academic, scientific and cultural relevance;

XVII. Promote integration and cooperation among peoples through their activities;

XVIII. To offer services of diffusion of sound and images, with no commercial purpose, with exclusively educative and cultural ends.
