The Industrial University of Santander’s mission is to educate people in the highest ethical, political and professional standards; to generate and consolidate knowledge; to conserve and reinterpret culture; and to participate actively in processes of change that promote progress and improve the quality of life in the community.
The mission embraces democratic principles, critical thinking, academic freedom, interdisciplinary studies and involvement in the outside world.
The university’s labor is nourished by the human qualities of all the people employed by the institution, by the responsible work potential of its employees, by the academic excellence of its professors, and by a profound commitment on behalf of the entire university community to the institution’s guiding principles and to the construction of a life enhancing culture.

By the year 2018, the Universidad Industrial de Santander would have grown to make important contributions to the country in its socioeconomic, cultural and political development. This would be the result of a research process that is knotted at the heart of the universities mission.
By this time, the university shall have successfully developed a vertical growth policy thanks to which high-quality post-graduate programs with a strong research component shall be created and consolidated.
It is expected that the institution shall have contributed to regional development by the provision of human training, availability of research fields, and creation of outreach programs. This shall be reflected in the improvement of living conditions, international competitiveness, and economic growth. As part of this process, the university’s coverage shall be broadened by creating and consolidating pertaining mission programs and strategic foundations both in the main and regional campuses, at professional and technological levels. This conforms to the training-by-cycles policy approved by the Superior Board.
Furthermore, the university shall have consolidated our global articulation policy to bring about the enhancement of mission processes in a significant manner by establishing cooperation bonds with other prestigious educational and research centers, companies, governmental institutions, alumni associations, and other public and private organizations at national and international levels. .
The University shall have strengthened a high-quality management culture regarding mission, strategic, and supporting processes throughout its structure.
As a result of the constant improvement of our academic programs, the University trains persons with the right competences to lead the country´s economic and social development and conduct educational and research projects geared towards the attainment of development goals in Colombia and the consolidation of a knowledge-based society at regional, national, and international levels.
The institution shall have consolidated its financial stability and modernized its physical and technological infrastructure.
