BSPU is one of the oldest and the leading teaching university of the Republic of Belarus. As an acknowledged national center for preparation, retraining and professional development of educators BSPU guides and coordinates the activities of the nation-wide training, research and innovation cluster of continuing teacher education.

Nowadays BSPU is the modern educational and research center of the national system for lifelong pedagogical education.

Main objectives:

- to train highly qualified teachers who are able to solve professional problems in independent and creative manner, who own advanced training and education technologies, are aware of the personal and social significance of pedagogical activity and take responsibility for its results;

- to integrate the potentials of education, science and innovative pedagogical practice within the framework of a cluster model for the development of teacher education in the country;

- to create the educational space of the pedagogical university for creative cooperation between teachers and students, continuous personal and professional development of  the educational process participants.

The BSPU covers all fields of the pedagogical education.  The university includes 3 Institutes and 8 Faculties, offers advanced Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. programs in more than 72 specialties. Higher qualification scientific and pedagogical workers are trained in 48 postgraduate specialties and 18 doctoral specialties.

The students and teacher staff of the university are participating in academic and youth mobility project of EU programs Erasmus+, MOST, Horizonte 2020.
