Mission / Vision

Motto: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle Tradition and innovation The University of Pécs, founded among the earliest universities in Europe, is striving towards promoting the capacity building of Hungary and the European Union in the fields of research, academics, arts and health care. The University intends to play a key role in its region in terms of intellectual output, the well-being of citizens and economic development. We are committed to establishing an environment, where all forms of outside-the-box thinking and creativity may thrive on a wide scale of basic and applied sciences and arts. Our priority is to strengthen university-centered innovation and research to improve the quality of life of citizens. We wish to achieve our goals by educating and training outstanding professionals, scholars and artists, bringing our brightest minds home, combining traditional and innovative elements of scientific research, and building an outstanding and accepting community at our University.

In addition to these goals and objectives, the University of Pécs also has specific quality objectives for each academic year, which are outlined in documents available on their website. These quality objectives are designed to improve the quality of education and services provided by the university and to ensure that students receive the best possible education and support. For example, the quality objectives for the 2021/2022 academic year include the elaboration and introduction of the university performance evaluation system in line with the change of model. The quality objectives for the 2020/2021 academic year include the introduction of the homogeneous Student Evaluation of Lecturers’ Work (SELW) system. The University of Pécs is committed to expanding student and staff mobility, developing and enhancing international teaching and research partnerships, and providing a culture of shared goals and vision.
