Mission / Vision

Fulda University is dedicated to the realisation of the human right to education and to the advance of knowledge. The University guarantees and promotes freedom of inquiry in research and teaching and encourages interdisciplinary and interdepartmental cooperation. The University’s specific mission is to train and educate students on the basis of scientific and scholarly research results.
Training and education at Fulda University include professionally-orientated qualification as well as the ability to reflect critically on the interdependence of individual, society and environment, the interconnection between future professional practice and social and ecological responsibility. The aim of studies at Fulda University is thus the development of responsible personalities highly competent in a specific discipline and equal to the demands of a humane perspective on life. Fulda University is committed to constant critical examination and further evolution of its programmes in form and content in order to accommodate developments in the sciences and changes in the professional world.

Goals

Fulda University encourages independent research on the part of its academic faculty and departments. The University views research as essential to the assurance of the quality and constant improvement of its programmes. The aim of research is the responsible utilisation of technological and economic expertise for the sustainable improvement of the quality of life.
All members of the academic community at Fulda University are called upon to participate in the self-government of the University and in the tasks of academic and university reform. Fulda University contributes to the social and cultural advancement of everyone in the University community. In particular, the University wishes to accommodate the special needs of handicapped individuals and seeks to improve handicapped access. In all of its activities, the University seeks to eliminate the existing disadvantagement of women in academic life and in society.

Main activities

Fulda University of Applied Sciences covers a broad spectrum of academic and professional education. The Departments of Applied Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Faculty of Business, Food Technology, Nursing and Health Sciences, Nutrition, Food and Consumer Sciences, Social and Cultural Sciences and Social Work teach numerous first-degree programmes, graduate programmes and other educational offerings.
Most of the study programmes lead to an international bachelor’s or master’s degree, and all are based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). 10 % of the students come from abroad. The number of international students has grown rapidly, especially in international degree programmes such as “Intercultural Communication and European Studies”, “International Management” or “eBusiness”.
