Lourdes Reig is Lecturer at the Department of Agro-food Engineering and Biotechnology. She holds a degree in Biological Sciences from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), which was completed with a Ph.D. in Marine Science at the UPC. Her career has been focused to the field of aquaculture. She has participated in the activity of the research group AQUAL (Aquaculture and aquatic product quality). The main subject under investigation is the design of aquaculture facilities considering both the environmental sustainability and the animal welfare. In this context, she has participated in 15 competitive and non-competitive projects, at local, national and European level, which have produced a good number of scientific papers in the most renowned peer-reviewed journals of the field of aquaculture and many contributions to the congresses of the area. She has also participated in technology transfer projects, some of them commissioned by the Government of Catalonia, and have assessed private companies on specific issues. Regarding University management positions, previously to the actual one as Vice-rector, she was academic secretary for 3 years, Vice-dean for Promotion, Communication and External Relations for 5 years, and Dean for 4 years, all positions at the Escola Superior d’Agricultura de Barcelona.
