CV summary

Josep Casanovas (Ph.D. in Computer Science, Industrial Engineer and Economist) is the head of inLab FIB at Barcelona School of Informatics. He is professor of the Statistics and Operations Research Department at UPC. His main research areas are Modelling, Simulation and High Performance Computing for Social Simulation. He has been Dean of the Barcelona School of Informatics and Vice-rector of Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC-BarcelonaTech) with responsibilities in strategic projects like the definition of new university governance models, the reformulation of university structure and the design and creation of a new Campus in Barcelona. He was also responsible for ICT policies at UPC and coordinator of the Severo Ochoa Research Excellence Program in the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) where he is at present leading a multidisciplinary research group on HPC Modelling and Simulation for Societal Challenges, focused in demography, epidemiology and public policies.
