Irene Jorge

Irene Jorge Fernández is project manager at the Technology Transfer Centre of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) since 2011. She collaborates with the UPC Equal Opportunities Office. Ms. Jorge has a degree in Environmental Science and holds a M.Sc. in Urban planning. She is dissemination manager of the European H2020 project Gender Equality in Engineering through Communication and Commitment (GEECCO), promoting transfer of knowledge among research communities, funding organizations, policy makers and civil society as well as fostering synergies with similar European initiatives and projects. Furthermore, she is responsible for the training in gender equality within Responsible Research and Innovation(RRI) framework and the execution of diverse educational engagement activities through the lifetime of the GEECCO project.
GEECCO aims to establish tailor-made Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) in four European universities (RPOs) and to implement the gender dimension in two research funding organizations (RFOs) in funding schemes, programmes and review processes. All participating universities are located in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field, where gender equality is still a serious problem.
