Fernando Giraldez is professor of Physiology at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra of Barcelona. Worked for many years in Neuroscience and Developmental Biology, focusing on the mechanisms of the development and function of sensory organs. Published about one hundred articles in international journals and books, guest speaker at various universities, research institutes, scientific meetings and symposia. Expert and panel member of research agencies and referee for international journals, founder member of the Spanish Society of Developmental Biology (SEBD). Since June 2017, Fernando does not run a research laboratory anymore, but remains active in scientific writing and teaching. With a broad experience in graduate and post-graduate education, also developed courses of Neuroscience for the Humanities and Social Sciences, and is regularly involved in science dissemination including talks at schools, courses and events for the community.
