CV summary

Programme Manager at the UNDP Water Governance Facility at SIWI (WGF), Alejandro leads the coordination of UNDP global programme, GoAL WASH, and the Accountability for Sustainability programme – a UNICEF partnership. Alejandro joined SIWI in 2013. He has over 14 years of experience working with water governance issues in East and Southern Africa, Central America and West Africa. Prior to joining SIWI, Alejandro worked for the private sector, for the NGO ONGAWA, and the Technical University of Catalunya, and worked as consultant for organizations such as World Bank and UNICEF.  
Alejandro has a Bachelor of Science (Civil Engineering) and Master of Science (Water and Energy) from the Technical University of Madrid, Spain, a PhD in water governance from the Technical University of Catalunya, Spain and did a Post Doc on sanitation governance at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He has published several articles and book chapters, especially in regards to water and sanitation governance, WASH indicators, and the implementation of the human right to water and sanitation. He was awarded Best Thesis on Cooperation and Development in the field of Engineering and Architecture, in the IV National Awards for Research in Development Cooperation in Spain.
