In this opinion piece in the Research & Occasional Paper Series published by the University of California, Berkeley Marcelo Knobel makes a case for Brazil to adjust its policies regarding international students, professors and researchers in order to keep up with the currently increasing trend of the globalization of higher education. Hitting on topics such as demographics, economics, language restrictions and possible negative repercussions of ignoring the wave of change, Knobel makes a series of suggestions in his conclusions as to possible actions to make Brazilian higher education competitive on a global scale.
