6th Annual conference in Dar es Salaam

From 7 to 9 October 2015 was held in Tanzania the 6th Annual conference in Dar es Salaam promoted by the African Network for Internationalization of Education (ANIE). Under the subject “From MDGs to SDGs: The Contribution of International Higher Education” this event focused on how higher education can contribute to achieve the new development agenda.

More than 200 people worldwide - including researchers, practitioner, higher education leaders, government and students – participated in different workshops, keynotes and parallel sessions, creating network and exchanging knowledge on different trending issues of higher education, including the Curriculum in African Universities and Professionalization of International Offices in African Universities.

This meeting was a opportunity to open the debate about the launching of the SDGs and its implications for higher education, since these universal goals were approved just a week before by the United Nations. Participants reached a consensus affirming that without the implication of the higher education institutions the new Development Agenda will be not achievable. Further, they pointed out the international dimension of higher education as an integral aspect for the realization of the Post 2015 Agenda.

This conference was organized by ANIE in collaboration with Research Alliance for Disaster and Risk Reduction of the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa and Open University of Tanzania.
