The Rector of the Open University of Catalonia (UOC) Josep A. Planell has been appointed President of the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP) and GUNi President for 2018.
Last January 18, the new directive board of the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP) was established. Josep A. Planell, Rector of the UOC University has been elected President of ACUP. Therefore, he has become the GUNi President for 2018. In this way, Josep A. Planell takes over Jaume Casals, Rector of Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) as GUNi President.
Josep A. Planell is Rector of UOC since 2013. He graduated in Physics from the University of Barcelona in 1975 and earned his doctorate in Materials Science from Queen Mary, University of London in 1983.
During the meeting, the members of the new ACUP board were elected as well: University of Barcelona's Rector, Joan Elias, as first Vice President; the President of the Social Council of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Gabriel Masfurroll, as second Vice President; the President of the Social Council of the Universitat de Girona (UdG), Rosa Núria Aleixandre, as third Vice-President, and the Pompeu Fabra University's Rector, Jaume Casals, who until now was the President and will become the Secretary.
