An agenda for the people and prosperity. Visions and alliances
The event, promoted by the Advisory Council on Sustainable Development of the Generalitat de Catalunya, was focused on analyzing the links between SDGs in the framework of the dimension 'People' and 'Prosperity' and the partnerships that are necessary to achieve them.
Josep Maria Vilalta, GUNi Director and Executive Secretary of the Catalan Association of Public Universities ACUP, participated as a speaker at the round table 'An agenda for prosperity', together with Eva Jané Llopis (ESADE), Àngels Pujols Muntada (The Labor Relations Board of Catalonia) and David Cos (Respon.cat).
The Generalitat of Catalonia, through the Ministry for Foreign Action, Institutional Relations and Transparency, organized the seminar 'An Agenda for People and Prosperity', with the aim of explaining the process of drawing up the National Plan for the 'Agenda 2030 and give voice to some of the actors that have been involved in its application in Catalonia and globally. This is the first day of a series of sessions that combine the 5 fields of action of the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS) of the new global agenda. These areas are known globally as '5 P': people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnerships. This first day will give voice to key actors of Catalan civil society as well as international experts involved in the field of people and prosperity in the attainment of ODS.
The aim of the 2030 Agenda is for nobody to be left behind, and universities together with all other actors should play a leading role in its achievement. It is in this framework that GUNi adopted an strategic line around the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. GUNi’s project on SDGs is mainly based on a series of Conferences and publications supported by the Group of Experts on SDGs and Higher Education. The next activity organized within this framework is the open-event 'Higher Education Partnerships for the SDGs: Buzzwords or Opportunity for Change? An Open Discussion with the GUNi Group of Experts in SDGs and Higher Education'', to be held on the 30th October 2018 in Barcelona. Registration is open and free of charge. Applications will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis through this registration form. We are looking forward to meeting you there!
