Sonia Bahri Before joining UNESCO as staff member in 1990, she worked with different research and development institutions, including the “Société d’Etudes pour le Développement Economique et Social” for developmental projects in developing countries. She initiated UNESCO’s programme in the field of HIV/AIDS and Education. She was then appointed Chief of the Section for General Secondary Education from 2001 to 2006 where she promoted international and regional policy dialogue especially on the importance of Secondary Education expansion and renewal for the achievement of EFA goals. She was head of the Section for International Cooperation in Higher Education, which is responsible for UNESCO’s Chairs and UNITWIN programme from 2006 to 2010.
