CV SummaryMiguel Ángel Chacón is a lecturer at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala, where he carries out research on urban development and teaches on the Master's Degree in Environmental Education. He has also been the director of the University's Architecture Research Centre, where he teaches Sustainable Development to students on the Degree in Architecture. He has delivered speeches on higher education strategies and sustainable development at a number of conferences. He is a member of the Education Network for Sustainable Development of Guatemala and has promoted educational networks for sustainable development (RCEs) in Latin America.
In 2009, on a scholarship from the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science he carried out postdoctoral research on education for sustainable development in Latin America at the United Nations University in Japan. In 2007, he carried out postdoctoral research at the Complutense University of Madrid on a scholarship from the Carolina Foundation. On a Fulbright scholarship, he obtained a PhD in Human Geography in 2004 and a master's degree in Urban Planning in 2000, both at the State University of New York.
