Higher Education for Sustainable Development: Rio+20 and beyond

On this consultative meeting, the UNESCO Chairs in Education for Sustainable Development from Costa Rica, Germany and Sweden discussed the outcomes and follow-up of the recent UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) regarding ESD and higher education.

The participants shared good ESD practices and particularly focused on the question of how universities as whole institutions can contribute to promoting sustainable development. Panellists also discussed the contribution of higher education to the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development until 2014 and beyond.
