New PASGR Study on Think Tank - University Relations in Africa
The project will include 10 country case studies to be undertaken by African researchers in the region
The Partnership for African Social & Governance Research (PASGR) is undertaking a study in collaboration with the Think Tank Initiative (TTI), a multi-donor program implemented by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), which aims to achieve a better understanding of think tank-university relations. Both think tanks and universities are important institutions with a key role to play in improving the living conditions of people in Africa, through the production of high quality African research that can address the policy challenges facing African countries.
The study will focus on two overarching questions:
1. What is the nature of the relationships between African think tanks and universities?
2. What is the influence on these relationships of different types of capacity building support provided by partner or funding organizations?
The intention is to present the draft findings at a workshop on African Think Tank – University Capacity Building that will include selected think tanks and university leaders as well as regional and international organizations actively involved in capacity building.
Call for proposals from African researchers interested in undertaking the country case studies is open now and the deadline is 7 december 2012.
