New blog on community engagement and university rankings
This Canadian initiative is lead by Prof. Hans Schuetze
This project was born at the last meeting of the Global Alliance for Community Engaged Research (GACER) last May 2012 in Bonn (Germany). In that event, Prof. Hans Schuetze (University of British Columbia) committed to lead a discussion on community engagement and university rankings, and has now started this blog in order to provide a context to develop thoughts on issues related to the existing and developing ranking systems.
The blog, which can be found at the PASCAL Observatory website, pretends in broad terms to promote the discussion of whether national ranking systems, run by the media, higher education research institutes, and government units, are useful or are a distraction from more important ways to assess universities and society, amongst other issues.
