Assembly of Rectors of Latin American and Caribbean Universities: Educational TrendsThe event discussed the new role of Latin American universities, their autonomy, distance higher education, and university rankings The 5th Assembly of the Rectors of Latin American and Caribbean Universities gathered 32 representatives from over 19 countries in the region to discuss the new role of Latin American universities. The Assembly was held in the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), and during the first day they analyzed the period of time between 2002 and 2012, addressing the role of the Latin American universities, their autonomy and social responsibility. The UBA rector considered very important to achieve the objectives planned for Higher Education to solve the problems the region shares, and to do so through universities where the most qualified human resources are.
