The Sino-Spanish Campus (SSC@TU) represents the first Spanish university venture in China
The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC), the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) and Tongji University in Shanghai reached a deal last 25 May 2012 in Shanghai for the creation of a common university campus, the Sino-Spanish Campus (SSC@TU). The objective of this joint venture is to strengthen relations between Spain, Latin America, and China through university cooperation, as well as to become a platform to impulse higher education and research in the fields of engineering, applied sciences and technology.
The deal intends to favor mobility of students and teaching staff amongst the three universities, to develop joint PhD programs, and to stimulate common research projects both with the Chinese and Spanish private sector, while receiving expected subsidies from China, Spain and Europe.
