Universiti Sains Malaysia publishes a new book: “Decolonising The University: The Emerging Quest for Non-Eurocentric Paradigms”
This book of essays is a follow-up to the "International Conference on Decolonising Our Universities" held in Penang, Malaysia from June 27th to 29th, 2011.
The conference was jointly organized by the Universiti Sains Malaysia and Citizens International, in cooperation with the Higher Education Leadership Academy of the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. At the conference, there was a strong call for education in Asia to become truly Asian, instead of simply mimicking Western systems and curricula. The papers in this volume examine possible ways of overcoming this problem of intellectual enslavement in Asian and African higher education institutions.
