University of Kassala takes part of the UNDP Sudan -TOKTEN Project

The University of Kassala, Sudan enrolled Dr. Elbushra Ali Mohammed Herieka and Dr. Zahir Osman Eltahir Babikir as TOKTEN Volunteers to face the need for capacity building and bridging the gap of knowledge on prevention of maternal to child transmission of HIV infection.

 

TOKTEN, or Transfer of Knowledge Through Expatriate Nationals, is an innovative UNV program that allows expatriates from program countries to return home for a period ranging from two weeks to three months to contribute their skills and services to their homeland’s development.

 

Dr. Elbushra Ali Mohammed Herieka and Dr. Zahir Osman Eltahir Babikir, are Sudanese expatriates living in United Kingdom, that came to Sudan in response to the University of Kassala. Their assignment consisted in imparting several workshops around the country, with the aim of bringing updated knowledge for participants on Maternal HIV infection and prevention of maternal to child transmission of HIV infection.

 

The main objective of the TOKTEN project in Sudan is to support the national capacity building of Sudanese institutions in various development sectors, through the transfer of knowledge from professional Sudanese in the Diasporas.
