United Nations Secretary-General Visits Chulalongkorn University Flood Relief Center

Chulalongkorn University

On November 16, the United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, visited the Chulalongkorn University Flood Relief Center.

Chulalongkorn University has integrated its academic know-how as well as physical and human resources to create a holistic operation for its Flood Relief Center and the care of flood victims there.

The Flood Relief Center at Chulalongkorn University provides needed assistance to the victims of floods as well as an excellent learning opportunity for student volunteers. This real life experience helps foster their public-mindedness and social responsibility. They will become worthy graduates who are knowledgeable and know how to use their knowledge to bring about sustainable development of the country.

Currently, Chulalongkorn University Flood Relief Center accommodates approximately 500 flood victims from general public and more than 2,500 university staff and students who are affected by flood. In addition, the center also provides a separate shelter for animals under surveillance of veterinarians.
