Training on Community Mobilization for Health and Development in Jimma University
Jimma University, through the Health Education and Behavioral Sciences Department has developed a course during July 2011 on ‘Community Mobilization for Health and Development’ in collaboration with AfriComNet. The course is designed to maximize the capacity of professionals working at different local and international organizations on health and development agendas and pre-tested by different stakeholders from Ethiopia and other African countries.
The objectives of the training are enable participants to be familiar with the concept of community mobilization, empower participants on how to diagnose the community problems with the community member themselves and act up on the problem together, build the skill of participants on communication strategies relevant to community mobilization for health and development and; how to measure success in community mobilization for health and development.
This course resulted from the public engagement of Jimma University with the local community with the aim of responding to the societal needs through training, research and service to the community.
