India's National Knowledge Network expanding

With a budget of roughly US $1.23 billion, the network is slowly but surely expanding to connect universities across the vast country, and giving access to untapped sources of knowledge, and being lauded ad nothing short of a "technical revolution".

The National Knowledge Network (NKN) is deepening the information pool in India, and providing instant communication between principal and rural satellite campuses in India - an important development in such a large state where distances between campuses can be quite expansive. While having the ability to browse online journals or communicate via videoconference may seem to be ho-hum to most, it represents a large step forward for the higher education system in India, both in technological advancement and commitment to financial support for the universities in the Asian state.
