Global Open Access Portal has been released
The launch of the global portal on open access Global Open Access Portal (GOAP), which provides an overview of open access to scientific information, took place at a special parallel event organized during the 36th session of the General Conference UNESCO, on Tuesday November 1th at the Headquarters in Paris.
The Global Open Access Portal provides an overview of the situation of open access (OA) to scientific information worldwide. The Portal highlights the positive factors and environments created in the countries where the open acces has been established. In the portal there are reports of about 148 countries with over 2000 links to initiatives and projects of Member States.
The portal has the support of the community of the platform of knowledge communities World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS by its initials in English).
The GOAP Portal was launched along with the renewed open training platform (OTP) and the first platform of open educational resources of UNESCO, provides the needed information by policy makers to understand the situation of open access in the world and in their own countries and to know where it has successfully been implemented.

The creation of GOAP Portal has been possible through the support of the Governments of Colombia, Denmark, the United States and Norway. The GOAP is a dynamic tool that will improve with the support of the community of professionals.
