Responsible for Educational Research and activities, IASS – Italian Association for Sustainability Science
Michela Mayer, Ph. D. in Science Education and a Master degree in Physics, worked as teacher, teachers’ trainer, educational researcher and evaluator both at National and at International level. As researcher at the Italian National Institute for the Evaluation of the Educational System (INVALSI), and as a free-lance consultant, she has been involved in many national and international Projects related to Science Education, to Environmental Education and to Education for Sustainability, having Evaluation as a personal and institutional focus. As a member of the International PISA Science Expert Group (OCDE), both in 2006 and in 2015, she collaborated to the Science framework and to items quality checking for the PISA Science assessment.
From 2005 she collaborates with the Italian UNESCO Commission for Education for Sustainable Development and Agenda 2030 Initiatives, and in 2007 she represented Italy in the UNECE experts group for the development of quality indicators for the UNECE ESD strategy. She participated as partner in several European projects concerning Science Education and Education for Sustainability, and has been responsible of the external evaluation, or of the external evaluation, of others European Projects as SUPPORT (2010), CoDeS (2014) and RSP (a Rounder Sense of Purpose, 2018). At present she is Associate Researcher at IRPPS-Italian National Research Council and Responsible for Educational Research at IASS.
