Isidre Sala Queralt is Director General for Multilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Action, Institutional Relations and Transparency of the Government of Catalonia. In this capacity, he fosters cooperation between the Catalan Government and multilateral organizations in order to maximize Catalonia’s contribution to the main global challenges. From 2014 to 2017, he enhanced Catalonia’s policy towards International Finance Institutions and other International Organizations with economic mandate, as International Finance Institutions specialist.

From 2004 to 2014, Mr. Sala served at ACCIO – the Catalan Business Competitiveness Agency- within the International Cooperation Division, becoming its Director in 2008. In this capacity, he led the Division in charge of promoting Catalan firms’ access to International Finance Institutions, exploring business opportunities and implementing technical assistance projects.

Prior to that, between 1997 and 2004, he assumed the role of business developer within the International Departments of two renowned Catalan firms, broadening their area of influence towards new markets.

Mr. Sala holds a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and External Action for the Pompeu Fabra University, pursued a “Business Strategies at the Base of the Pyramid” Program for the IESC (Argentina) and Cornell University (USA), holds a Post-Graduate degree in Development Studies for the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and a BA in Economic Science for the University of Barcelona.

Moreover, he is fluent in six languages and has extensive international experience – he travelled across over 70 countries both for professional and personal reasons.
