Dr. Catherine Etmanski is a Professor and Director of the School of Leadership Studies at Royal Roads University. She is a passionate educator who endeavours to create inclusive and engaging learning opportunities for adult learners from all backgrounds. She incorporates creative, experiential approaches into her scholarship and work toward social and environmental justice. She has published in the areas of collaborative leadership, transformative learning, community-based research, and the use of the arts in promoting research and social change. Catherine’s recent books include, Food leadership: Leadership and adult learning for global food systems transformation (2017) and Learning and teaching community-based research: Linking pedagogy to practice (Etmanski, Hall, & Dawson, 2014). She received her PhD from the University of Victoria in 2007 with a focus on leadership, adult education, and participatory engagement. She has a Master’s degree in community and international development Planning from the University of British Columbia (2003) and a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University (1999).
