Vicerector for International Relations and Cooperation at the Universitat de Lleida
Dr. Astrid Ballesta is Vicerector for International Relations and Cooperation at the Universitat de Lleida (Catalonia-Spain) since 2011. She was also Academic Coordinator of International Relations at the UdL between 1998 and 2003. She is an associate professor at the School of Agrifood and Forestry Science and Engineering of the UdL since 1992.
PhD in Agronomic Engineering, with a Post-graduate in Plant breeding and seed production from the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza-International Centre for Advanced Agronomic Mediterranean Studies (IAMZ-CIHEAM). Her academic and research specialization is related with vegetable production, horticulture, production and rotation systems analysis and fertilization management in sustainable horticultural systems as well as beekeeping and its relation with pollination and horticultural crops pollination.
Previous to her incorporation at the university, she worked in agricultural statistics and in UE-Corine Project at Trabajos Catastrales SA (Government of Navarra) and at IRTA (Research & Technology Food & Agriculture Institute – Government of Catalonia). She did research and education stays in Switzerland, the Netherlands and France.
