Alexander Lang studied Socio-Economics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business as well as Sociology and German Philology at the University of Vienna. Since 2011, he has been working for the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), Vienna. He is part of the research group “Techno-Science & Societal Transformation” (TS&ST).

TS&ST investigates the mutual interdependency of science/technology and society as well as the societal preconditions, possibilities and limitations of governing related issues. At the moment, Alexander Lang is involved in several international projects dealing with Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) from various perspectives, e.g., monitoring the evolution and benefits of RRI (MoRRI), designing RRI training programs and content for higher education institutions (HEIRRI), or developing and implementing RRI strategies in two large research and technology organisations (JERRI). Furthermore, he is lecturer for qualitative methods of empirical social research at the University of Vienna.
